Basic Restart Protocol

• After a crash, a new Charm++ process is started

  • Can be on a new processor
  • Can also be a dummy processor that is useful during restart

• Gets checkpoint and local message log from buddy

• Chares are restored and other processors are informed of it

• Logged messages for chares on restarted process are resent

• Messages are reprocessed by the restarted chares
